Texans DL J.J. Watt Underwent Minor Knee Surgery

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that Texans DL J.J. Watt underwent a minor knee cleanup procedure after the season.

However, Rapoport says that it sounds like Watt is fine now and this was just some maintenance on an injury that bothered him during the season.

Watt managed to play in every game this past season for the Texans and is a candidate for Comeback Player of the Year.

Watt, 29, is a former first-round pick of the Texans back in 2011. He’s entering the fifth year of his eight-year, $108.88 million contract that includes $51.8 million guaranteed and stands to make base salaries of $13 million and $13.5 million over the next two years of the deal.

In 2018, Watt appeared in all 16 games for the Texans and recorded 61 tackles, 16 sacks, seven forced fumbles and four pass defenses. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 3 edge rusher out of 105 qualifying players.
