Texans Sign CB Johnthan Banks

The Houston Texans announced Wednesday that they’ve signed CB Johnthan Banks to a contract and waived TE Evan Baylis.

Banks, 27, was originally drafted in the second-round of the 2013 NFL Draft by the Buccaneers. He played out the final year of his four-year, $4.726 million rookie contract and tested the open market as an unrestricted free agent.

The Buccaneers traded Banks to the Lions in exchange for a conditional seventh-round pick in the 2018 NFL Draft before the deadline. However, the Lions waived him a month later and he was claimed off of waivers by the Bears.

The Bears re-signed him to a one-year contract back in March, but released him as they worked down to the 53-man limit.

In 2016, Banks appeared in eight games and recorded six tackles, no interceptions and one pass defense.
