Texans Have Expressed Interest In RBs Lamar Miller, Doug Martin & Matt Forte

John McClain reports that that Texans have expressed interest in free agent RBs Lamar Miller, Doug Martin and Matt Forte.

However, McClain notes that Miller is the fastest running back out of this group and the Texans are reportedly trying to improve their speed.

Recent reports have made it clear that the Texans are the team to watch for Miller, but it’s interesting to hear that they’ve at least contacted other running backs like Martin and Forte.

Miller is reportedly likely to command $6.5 million per year in his next contract.

Miller, 24, played out the final year of his four-year, $2.58 million rookie contract that included a $486,000 signing bonus and is now in position to be one of the best available running backs in this year’s free agent class.

In 2015, Miller appeared in all 16 games for the Dolphins and ran for 872 yards on 194 carries (4.5 YPC) to go along with 47 receptions for 397 yards receiving and 10 total touchdowns. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 5 running back out of 68 qualifying players.

Forte, 30, he has played out his four-year, $30.4 million contract that included $13.8 million guaranteed. He’s now in position to be one of the best available running backs in this year’s free agent market.

In 2015, Forte has appeared in 13 games and ran for 898 yards on 218 carries (4.1 YPC) to go along with 44 receptions for 389 yards receiving and seven total touchdowns for the Bears. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 19 running back out of 68 qualifying players.
