Texans Have “No Interest” In Veteran QB Matt Cassel

John McClain of the Houston Chronicle reports that the Texans have “no interest” in veteran QB Matt Cassel.

Yesterday, Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk mentioned that the Texans could be a team to keep an eye in regards to Cassel after he was released by the Bills, due to his relationship with HC Bill O’Brien.

O’Brien spent time working with Cassel while with the Patriots in 2007 and 2008. In fact, Cassel started all 16 games for the Patriots in 2008.

Although, Florio did admit that Cassel is likely to try and find the best opportunity as a No. 2 quarterback, rather than sign on with Texans as their No. 3 option.

Cassel, 33, came over in a trade with the Vikings that sent a 2015 fifth-round pick and a 2016 seventh-round pick to Minnesota for the veteran quarterback and a 2015 sixth-round pick.

Last year, Cassel appeared in three games for the Vikings and completed 57.7 percent of his passes for 425 yards, three touchdowns, and four interceptions.
