Texans Hire Brian Cushing To Work With Defense/Conditioning Staff

The Houston Texans have hired veteran LB Brian Cushing to work with their strength and conditioning staff and to help out on defense, according to John McClain

Cushing drew interest from the Seahawks and Raiders last offseason, but wound up sitting out the entire 2018 season.

It now appears as though he’s ready to make the transition into coaching and end his playing career.

Cushing, 32, is a former first-round pick of the Texans back in 2009. He was entering in the fifth year of his six-year, $55.643 million contract that includes $21 million guaranteed and set to make a base salary of $7.25 million for the 2018 season when the Texans released him.

In 2017, Cushing appeared in five games and recorded 16 tackles and 1.5 sacks.

  1. Brian Cushing on the Texans strength and conditioning staff next season. What’s the over/under on PED suspensions in Houston next year?! You gotta be kidding me! Why do you think the Texans released Cushing to begin with? Injuries were a part of the reason. The main reason is Cushing is a “Juice Head”.
