Texans Hosting Veteran OT Austin Howard For Visit

The Houston Texans are bringing in free agent OT Austin Howard for a visit on Thursday, according to John McClain of the Houston Chronicle.

This is the first reported visit for Howard since he was recently released by the Raiders. Although, the Ravens came up as a potential landing spot for him soon after he was cut loose.

Texans LT Duane Brown is currently holding out of training camp.

Howard, 30, originally signed on with the Eagles as an undrafted free agent back in 2010. He had a brief stint with the Ravens before he was signed to the Jets’ active roster in 2011.

After three years in New York, Howard signed a five-year, $30 million contract that included $15 million guaranteed with the Raiders and was set to make a base salary of $4.9 million for the 2017 season when he was released.

In 2016, Howard appeared in 11 games and was rated by Pro Football Focus as the No. 52 offensive tackle out of 77 qualifying players.

We have him featured in our Top 50 Available Free Agents list.
