Texans Interested In Brian Gaine & Nick Caserio For GM Job

Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports reports that the Texans have interest in Bills executive Brian Gaine and Patriots director of player personnel Nick Caserio for their GM position.

Houston is expected to bring in a replacement GM after executive VP Rick Smith decided to take an extended leave of absence from the team in order to take care of his wife during her cancer treatments.

Smith has said that nothing has changed in regards to his position and he fully intends on returning to Houston at some point.

However, it’s clear that the Texans will be looking to bolster their front office with an experienced executive for at least the time being.

Both Gaine and Caserio have ties to Texans HC Bill O’Brien. Although, it would be surprising to see Caserio leave New England, considering the opportunities he’s passed up in recent years to remain in New England.

Another speculative GM candidate that has come up is Falcons executive Scott Pioli, given that he’s also from the Bill Belichick tree.

We’ll have more regarding the Texans’ GM search as the news is available.
