Texans, Jaguars, Bucs, Raiders & Vikings All Met With Johnny Manziel Thursday

Update:

Albert Breer of the NFL Network reports that the Raiders and Buccaneers also met with Texas A&M QB Johnny Manziel on Thursday following his Pro Day.

  • According to Breer, the Browns will host Manziel for a visit at some point next month.

Earlier in the day, Breer reported that the Texans and Jaguars will both meet with privately with Texas A&M QB Johnny Manziel Thursday afternoon, and separate reports mentioned that the Vikings brass were all in attendance as well.

Breer mentions that the head coaches for each of these teams were in attendance for A&M’s Pro Day on Thursday.

  • According to College Football 24/7, Manziel will have dinner with the Vikings HC Mike Zimmer, OC Norv Turner and GM Rick Spielman Thursday and will meet with him Friday morning as well.
  • Chase Goodbread of College Football 24/7 reported that Zimmer spent “a lot of time” talking to Texas A&M HC Kevin Sumlin during Manziel’s Pro Day workout.

Albert Breer also reported that the Bears and Browns were the two teams not in attendance for Texas A&M’s Pro Day.

Overall, the consensus was that Manziel had a great performance Thursday and should great arm strength throughout the workout.

Mike Mayock was particularly impressed with Manziel’s arm strength saying that he believes Manziel can make every throw mechanically and his arm strength is as good as Blake Bortles’, if not better, via College Football 24/7.

ESPN’s Jon Gruden offered a Steve Young comparison.

Steve Young is who I see when I watch Johnny Manziel’s tape. Lot of common ground: size, speed, playmaking ability and upside,” Gruden said, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
