Texans Lose Mario Williams For The Season

John McClain of the Houston Chronicle reports that LB Mario Williams will miss the rest of the season after suffering a torn pectoral muscle during Sunday’s loss to the Oakland Raiders.

Much was made about Williams making the transition to linebacker considering his size but he managed to tally 11 tackles, 5 sacks and a forced fumble in the teams first five games. The Texans will now look to rookie LB Brooks Reed to take over for the injured Williams.

Williams will be a free agent following the season so Houston will ultimately have to decide whether or not he’s part of their long term plans. We have Williams listed as the No. 9 best available player in our Top 50 Free Agents list.
