Texans Negotiating Long-Term Deal For HC Bill O’Brien

John McClain reports that the Texans are currently negotiating a long-term contract extension for HC Bill O’Brien.

McClain adds that the Texans are eager to get a deal done with O’Brien so he can hire better coaches to his staff. He is set to have six openings.

Houston is expected to hire Brian Gaine as their new general manager, so it appears that the front office is committed to getting their staff in place quickly.

O’Brien, 48, was hired by the Texans back in 2014 after spending a few years at Penn State. Since taking the job with Houston, O’Brien has led them to a record of 31-32 (49.2 percent) to go along with two playoff appearances.

He has one year remaining on his five-year contract.

We’ll have more regarding O’Brien and the Texans as the news is available.
