Texans OLB Jadeveon Clowney Undergoing “Minor” Knee Scope, Will Miss Pro Bowl

Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reports that Texans OLB Jadeveon Clowney will undergo a “minor arthroscopic knee surgery” and subsequently miss this year’s Pro Bowl.

Any surgery involving a knee is a concern, but especially so for someone like Clowney, who has dealt with knee issues since entering the NFL.

Wilson adds that Clowney is expected to make a full recovery and be back for the start of offseason activities. However, this is something to monitor in the coming months if you’re a Texans’ fan.

Clowney, 24, is a former No. 1 overall pick of the Texans back in 2014. He was in the final year of his four-year, $22.272 million contract when the Texans picked up his fifth-year option last year that will pay him a salary of $13,846,000 for the 2018 season.

In 2017, Clowney appeared in 16 games for the Texans and recorded 59 tackles, 9.5 sacks, two forced fumbles, two recoveries with one being returned for a touchdown, and two pass defenses for the Texans. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 14 edge defender out of 108 qualifying players.
