Texans Place TE Ryan Griffin On Short-Term I.R.

John McClain of the Houston Chronicle reports that the Texans are placing TE Ryan Griffin on injured reserve with the designation to return on Tuesday.

This means Houston will be without Griffin until Week 9 of the regular season.

Griffin, 25, has two years remaining on his four-year rookie contract that included a $78,680 signing bonus. He stands to make base salaries of $585,000 and $675,000 over the next two years.

In 2014, Griffin appeared in all 16 games for the Texans and recorded 10 receptions for 91 yards receiving and one touchdown.
