Texans Promote DE Ufomba Kamalu To Active Roster, Waived DE Brandon Dunn

The Houston Texans announced that they have promoted DE Ufomba Kamalu to the active roster and waived DE Brandon Dunn in a corresponding roster move.

Dunn, 24, signed on with the Bears as an undrafted free agent out of back in May of last year. He spent most of his time with the Bears on and off of their practice squad before the Texans signed him to their active roster.

Dunn was unable to make the 53-man roster coming out of the preseason but was later signed to their practice squad. The Texans promoted him to their active roster before placing him on waivers and eventually re-signing him to their practice squad.

Houston promoted him once again to their active roster last month, so he is clearly a candidate to join the practice squad once clearing waivers.

In 2016, Dunn has appeared two games for the Texans and recorded three total tackles.

Kamalu, 24, wound up signing a three-year, $1.62 million contract with the Texans as an undrafted free agent out of Miami back in May. He was, unfortunately, unable to make the 53-man roster coming out of the preseason and was later signed to their practice squad.

He has yet to appear in an NFL game.

During his college career at Miami, Kamalu recorded 94 tackles, 11.5 tackles for a loss, eight sacks, a forced fumble, a recovery and two pass defenses.
