Ian Rapoport of NFL Media has confirmed that Texans RB Arian Foster does, in fact, have a torn Achilles, and will miss the remainder of the 2015 season.

  • Aaron Wilson adds that the Texans still plan to have Foster undergo an MRI on Monday, but the initial diagnosis is that it’s a torn Achilles.

Houston will likely place Foster on season-ending injured reserve in the coming days.

Texans RB Arian Foster went down with a non-contact injury during the fourth quarter of Sunday’s game against the Dolphins and was carted off to the locker room.

The Texans later announced that Foster had sustained Achilles injury, which is clearly a major concern, given that these types of injuries are rarely minor.

Aaron Wilson notes that Foster was yelling in pain as soon as he went down, which further implies that the injury could be season-ending.

Foster already missed a portion of the season due to a groin injury.

Foster, 28, has another two years remaining on his five-year, $43.5 million contract that included $20.75 million guaranteed. He stands to make base salaries of $6 million and $6.5 million over the final two years of the agreement.

Coming into today’s game, Foster had ran for 104 yards on 45 carries (2.3 YPC) to go along with 17 receptions for 161 yards receiving and and a touchdown.

We’ll have more regarding Foster’s injury as the news is available.
