Texans Re-Sign QB Josh Johnson, Place Corey Moore On IR

The Houston Texans announced Wednesday that they’ve re-signed QB Josh Johnson and placed S Corey Moore on injured reserve.

  • The Texans also signed G Erick Austell to their practice squad and released G Dorian Johnson from the unit.

The Texans’ practice squad now consists of:

  1. CB Bryce Jones
  2. CB Dee Virgin
  3. LB Kennan Gilchrist
  4. RB Troymaine Pope
  5. DB Josh Thornton
  6. TE Zach Conque
  7. DT Marcus Hardison
  8. OT Jake Rodgers
  9. TE Jevoni Robinson
  10. G Erick Austell

Johnson, 31, is a former fifth-round pick of the Buccaneers back in 2012. Since then, Johnson has played for a number of teams including the 49ers, Browns, Bengals, Chargers, Jets, Colts and most recently for the Bills.

The Ravens signed him to a contract back in May of last year before cutting him loose coming out of the preseason. Johnson later caught on with the Giants but was once again released at the start of the regular season.

Johnson just signed on with the Texans back in November but was cut loose after a few weeks.

Johnson hasn’t appeared in an NFL game since the 2013 season while playing for the Bengals.
