Texans Re-Sign RFA OLB John Simon

The Houston Texans have re-signed restricted free agent OLB John Simon on Wednesday, according to his agency.

The Texans used a low-round tender on Simon that will run them $1,671,000 for the 2016 season. This designation gave them the right of first refusal on any contract offer he received, but wouldn’t have included any compensation had they elected to not match an offer.

Simon, 25, is a former fourth-round pick of the Ravens back in 2013. He spent just over a year in Baltimore before he was waived at the start of the 2014 season.

The Texans later signed him off of the Ravens’ practice squad.

In 2015, Simon appeared in all 16 games and recorded 53 tackles, five sacks, and a fumble recovery for the Texans. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 48 edge rusher out of 110 qualifying players.
