Texans Re-Signing TE Ryan Griffin To Three-Year, $9M Deal

The Texans are re-signing TE Ryan Griffin to a three-year deal, according to Mark Berman.

  • John McClain reports that Griffin receives a three-year, $9 million deal with $3.2 million guaranteed.
  • According to Aaron Wilson, Griffin had interest from the Lions.

Outside of Jared Cook, there’s isn’t much depth at tight end in free agency, so it probably the right move for the Texans to bring Griffin back at a reasonable contract.

Griffin, 26, is a former sixth-round pick of the Texans back in 2013. He played out his four-year, $2,238,680 contract with the Texans and was testing the open market as an unrestricted free agent for the first time in his career.

In 2016, Griffin appeared in all 16 games for the Texans and caught 50 passes for 442 yards receiving and two touchdowns. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 56 tight end out of 63 qualifying players.
