The Houston Texans are releasing veteran K Nick Novak as they trim their roster down to the 53-man limit, according to Mark Berman.
Novak, 35, was a somewhat surprising cut from the Chargers at the start of 2015 year. However, he managed to catch on with the Texans midseason and re-signed with the team following that season.
He finished a one-year, $965,000 contract with the Texans and was re-signed by the team to a one-year, $1.15 million contract.
In 2016, Novak appeared in all 16 games for the Texans and converted 35 field goals on 41 attempts (85.4 percent). He also recorded 22 extra points on 25 attempts (88 percent) and 23 touchbacks.
