WR Jacoby Jones Will Visit The Carolina Panthers

John McClain of the Houston Chronicle reports that released WR Jacoby Jones will visit with the Panthers later today.

Jones was released by the Texans following the recent additions of DeVier Posey and Dwight Jones. His underwhelming play, $3 million salary for 2012, and the fact he was going to be relegated to being a kick returner for them was enough to justify his release. The Panthers could still use some help at receiver, but they’re really high on Brandon LaFell and recently drafted Joe Adams, so there by no means desperate for help.

John McClain of the Houston Chronicle reports that the Texans have release WR Jacoby Jones.

This comes just days after they were unable to trade him during the draft. Jones was set to make $3 million for the upcoming season, but considering his limited production, as well as the fact that they brought in DeVier Posey and Dwight Jones in recent days, Jones wasn’t going to have enough opportunity in the team’s offense to justify his contract.

He quickly becomes one of the best available receivers on the open market, which goes to show you just how bad things are for anyone looking to add some addition help at the position.
