Texans Releasing C Chris Myers, Free Up $6M In Cap Space

Pro Football Talk reports that the Texans have informed veteran C Chris Myers that he’s being released.

Myers, 33, still had one year remaining on his four-year, $25 million contract that included $14 million guaranteed. He was set to make a base salary of $6 million for the 2015 season.

According to OverTheCap.com, releasing Myers will free up $6 million in available cap space for the Texans while creating $2 million in dead money.

Myers hasn’t missed a single game in the last nine years.

Pro Football Focus rated Myers as the No. 16 center in the league last season out of 41 qualifying players.
