Texans Rookie C Nick Martin Expected To Miss 2016 Season

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that Texans C Nick Martin recently underwent ankle surgery and is now expected to miss the 2016 season.

  • Josina Anderson reports that Martin’s ankle surgery and is expected to cost him “most of the regular season, approximately 4 months.”

The Texans will likely place Martin on injured reserve in the coming days and begin looking for another center to bring in.

Martin, 23, was taken in the second round of this year’s NFL draft by the Texans. He signed a four-year, $4.77 million contract that included $2.33 million guaranteed.

Martin will make base salaries of $450,000 (2016), $667,044 (2017), $884,088 (2018) and $1.1 million (2019) over the next four years.

During his college career at Notre Dame, Martin made 37 starts at both guard and center.
