Texans Sign 9 Players To Futures Deals Including DE Gerald Rivers

The Houston Texans announced the signing of nine players to future/reserve contracts on Monday including DE Gerald Rivers.

The other players signed include: DB Robert Nelson, LB Tony Washington, WR Josh Lenz, OL Karin Barton, DE Dan Pettinato, TE Eric Tomlinson, RB Kenny Hilliard and C Dalton Freeman.

Future/reserve contracts are essentially an opportunity for players compete for a roster spot in offseason workouts and training camp.

Rivers, 25, originally signed on with the Rams as an undrafted free agent out of Mississippi back in 2013.

Since then, Rivers has played for a number of teams including the Jaguars, Dolphins, Broncos, Giants and Rams before the Texans signed him to their practice squad a few months ago.

Rivers hasn’t appeared in an NFL game since the 2013 season when he was playing for the Jaguars.
