Texans Sign S Marcus Gilchrist & WR DeAndrew White, Waive/Injured WR Deante Gray

The Houston Texans announced Tuesday that they’ve officially signed S Marcus Gilchrist and WR DeAndrew White to contracts.

  • Texans waived WR Deante Gray with an injury designation.

The Texans recently brought Gilchrist in a for a workout and it appears as though they felt he could be a quality addition to their secondary.

Gilchrist, 28, is a former second-round pick of the Chargers back in 2011. After four years San Diego, Gilchrist signed a four-year, $22 million contract with $8.5 million guaranteed in March of 2015.

Gilchrist was set to make a base salary of $6 million for the 2017 season when the Jets elected to designate him as a post-June 1 release a few months ago. This move freed up $6 of available cap space while creating $1,375,000 in dead money for New York.

In 2016, Gilchrist appeared in 13 games and recorded 55 tackles, two interceptions, a forced fumble and three pass defenses.
