Texans Sign Third-Round Pick NT Louis Nix

The Houston Texans announced the signing of third-round pick NT Louis Nix to a four-year contract on Friday.

  • The Texans also announced the signing of sixth-round pick DE Jeoffrey Pagan to a four-year contract on Friday as well.

Nix somewhat surprisingly fell to the Texans in round three, despite the fact that some draft analysts believed he could come off the board in round one.

In fact, there were reports last Friday that the Texans could be targeting him at No. 33 overall, but they ultimately elected to take UCLA G Xavier Su’a-Filo with that pick.

Nix gives the Texans a huge presence in the middle of their defensive line. The addition of Jadeveon Clowney leaves Houston with plenty of guys who can get to the quarterback, so I’m sure the Texans new coaching staff will be working with Nix to focus on eating up blocks and contributing in the run game.
