Texans Signing QB Matt McGloin

Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reports that the Texans are signing QB Matt McGloin to a contract following the news that QB Deshaun Watson is out for the year with a torn ACL.

McGloin played for Texans HC Bill O’Brien while they were at Penn State.

The Texans will, obviously, move forward with Tom Savage as their starting quarterback for the remainder of the season.

McGloin, 27, wound up signing on with the Raiders as an undrafted free agent out of Penn State back in 2013. He surprisingly has managed to make the 53-man roster each year since entering the league and returned to the Raiders last year on a one-year, $2.553 million restricted deal.

As an unrestricted free agent, McGloin signed a one-year contract with the Eagles but was unfortunately among their final roster last weekend.

In 2016, McGloin completed 8 of 15 passing attempts (53.3) for 50 yards passing and no touchdowns or interceptions.
