Texans Still Pursuing CB Malcolm Butler & LT Nate Solder

Michael Giardi reports that the Texans continue to pursue both Patriots LT Nate Solder and CB Malcolm Butler in free agency.

  • According to Giardi, both Solder and Butler have “strong market” and it doesn’t appear as though being benched for the Super Bowl will end up costing Butler any money.

Solder reportedly has serious interest from the Browns and the Lions, Texans, Raiders and Saints have come up as potential options for Butler.

Butler, 27, wound up signing on with the Patriots as an undrafted free agent out of West Alabama back in 2014. He played out the final year of his rookie contract before signing a one-year restricted tender worth $3.91 million for the 2017 season.

In 2017, Butler appeared in 16 games and recorded 60 tackles, two interceptions, a sack, three forced fumbles and 12 pass defenses for the Patriots. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 51 cornerback out of 120 qualifying players.

Solder, 29, is a former first-round pick of the Patriots back in 2011. He’s played all seven seasons for the Patriots and is now in position to test the free agent market for the first time in his NFL career.

In 2017, Solder appeared in 16 games for the Patriots and is rated by Pro Football Focus as the No. 33 offensive tackle out of 85 qualifying players.

We have both players featured in our Top 100  – 2018 NFL Free Agents list.
