Texans Sign RB Lamar Miller To A Four-Year, $26M Deal

Update:

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that the Texans have RB Lamar Miller to a four-year, $26 million deal that includes $14 million fully guaranteed.

Jason La Canfora reports that the Texans are hopeful of completing a deal with free agent RB Lamar Miller and have made headway towards an agreement.

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that the Texans are still the team to beat for RB Lamar Miller.

  • According to Rapoport, the Cowboys are in the mix, but aren’t interested in his current price.

Yesterday, Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reported last night that the Texans were “zeroed in” on Miller as a replacement to Arian Foster. Wilson added that Miller is likely to command  $6.5 million per year.

Indications are and have been that the Texans are the favorites to sign Miller, and with Chris Ivory signing with the Jaguars and Doug Martin in talks with the Buccaneers, this deal could be completed at some point in the near future.

Miller, 24, played out the final year of his four-year, $2.58 million rookie contract that included a $486,000 signing bonus and is now in position to be one of the best available running backs in this year’s free agent class.

In 2015, Miller appeared in all 16 games for the Dolphins and ran for 872 yards on 194 carries (4.5 YPC) to go along with 47 receptions for 397 yards receiving and 10 total touchdowns. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 5 running back out of 68 qualifying players.

We have him featured in our Top 100 – 2016 Free Agents list.
