Texans Targeting A QB In This Year’s Draft?

Nick Scurfield of HoustonTexans.com writes that it’s “not outside the realm of possibility” that the Texans could select a quarterback in either the first or second-round of this year’s NFL draft.

Scurfield specifically mentions that USC’s Matt Barkley or Florida State’s E.J. Manuel as speculative options.

It’s worth noting that Houston has only taken two quarterbacks – T.J. Yates (fifth-round) and Alex Brink (seventh-round) – under GM Rick Smith.

“In this business, you better be looking for young quarterbacks you think have a chance to be a 10-12 year guy,” said head coach Gary Kubiak. “This year will be no different.”

The Texans have other areas need, so many expect them to target a different position like wide receiver or nose tackle instead of grabbing a developmental quarterback.

We have them drafting LB Kevin Minter our 2013 NFL Mock Draft.
