Texans Waive DL Brandon Dunn, Promote CB Robert Nelson

The Houston Texans have placed DL Brandon Dunn on waivers Thursday and promoted CB Robert Nelson to their active roster, according to Mark Berman.

Dunn, 24, signed on with the Bears as an undrafted free agent out of back in May of last year. He spent most of his time with the Bears on and off of their practice squad before the Texans signed him to their active roster.

Dunn was unable to make the 53-man roster coming out of the preseason but was later signed to their practice squad. The Texans promoted to their active roster last week.

In 2015, Dunn appeared in 12 games for the Texans and recorded nine tackles and no sacks.

Nelson, 26, originally signed on with the Browns as an undrafted free agent out of Arizona State back in May of 2014. He lasted just over a year in Cleveland before he was waived at the start of last season and later signed to the Cardinals’ practice squad.

The Texans signed Nelson to a future/reserve contract this past January but he was once again among their final roster cuts coming out of the preseason. Houston signed him to their practice squad a day later.

In 2014, Nelson appeared in seven games but did not record a statistic.
