Texans Waive ILB Ben Heeney From IR With Settlement

The Houston Texans announced Saturday that they’ve waived ILB Ben Heeney from injured reserve with a settlement.

Heeney, 26, is a former fifth-round pick of the Raiders back in 2015. He was in the second year of his four-year, $2,773,724 contract when the Raiders elected to cut him loose coming out of the preseason last year.

The Saints signed him to their practice squad and eventually called him up before cutting him loose soon after. The Texans claimed Heeney off of waivers and he finished out the year in Houston.

Heeney returned to the Texans this past March but was waived with an injury designation coming out of the preseason and he later reverted to their injured reserve list.

In 2017, Heeney appeared in five games and recorded two tackles and no sacks.
