Texans Waive WR Andy Jones, Promote WR/KR Chris Thompson

Aaron Wilson reports that the Houston Texans have placed WR Andy Jones on waivers Tuesday and promoted WR/KR Chris Thompson to their active roster.

• The Texans also signed LB Kennan Gilchrist to their practice squad.

Jones, 23, originally signed on with the Cowboys as an undrafted free agent out of Jacksonville back in May of last year. Dallas later waived him and signed him to their practice squad once he cleared waivers.

The Cowboys signed him to a futures deal in January but elected to waive him as they trimmed their roster down to the 53-man limit. Jones was later claimed off of waivers by the Texans. Jones has been on and off of their roster this season.

In 2017, Jones has appeared in one game for the Texans but has yet to record a statistic.
