Texans Waived DB Cleveland Wallace, Sign OT Matt Pierson

The Texans officially placed DB Cleveland Wallace on waivers Wednesday and signed OT MattĀ Pierson to a contract.

Wallace, 22, wound up signing on with the Texans as an undrafted free agent out of San Jose State back in May. However, it appears as though Houston feels as though the roster spot is better served by adding an offensive lineman, as they prepare for the preseason.

Wallace was actually a priority undrafted signing for the Texans, so he could catch on with a new team in the coming weeks.

During his college career at both Washington and San Jose State, Wallace recorded 79 tackles, one tackle for a loss, five interceptions with one being returned for a touchdown, 19 pass defenses and a fumble recovery.

Pierson is an undrafted free agent out of Oregon. This will be his first opportunity with an NFL team.
