Texans Waived S Lonnie Ballentine & CB Denzel Rice From I.R. With Settlements

The Houston Texans officially waived S Lonnie Ballentine and CB Denzel Rice from injured reserve with injury settlements on Friday.

Ballentine, 24, was taken in the seventh round of the 2014 NFL draft by the Texans. He was in the final year of his four-year, $2,265,896 rookie contract and set to make a base salary of $690,000 for the 2017 season.

Ballentine’s 2015 season came to an end after dislocating his left knee and tearing his MCL and PCL.

The Texans activated Ballentine from the PUP list during the 2016 season only to place him on injured reserve in November.

In 2016, Ballentine appeared in two games but did not record a statistic.
