Texans Will Try To Keep Mario Williams But No Guarantees

John McClain of the Houston Chronicle tweet’s that the Houston Texans will make DE/OLB Mario Williams “a great offer” to stay with the team, but adds that he’ll have to take a hometown discount to stay with the team.

Houston can’t franchise him because that will cost them a staggering $22 million next season. Last year they were forced to move him to outside linebacker and despite his early success, he’s going to be better suited with his hand in the ground than dropping into coverage from time to time

Williams will have no shortage of suitors if he elects to hit the open market. The Bills, Jaguars and possibly the Buccaneers figure to be the top suitors for him if he becomes available considering that they’ll have more than enough cap space to work with.
