Texas A&M OT Jake Matthews Visiting Falcons & Texans This Week

Ian Rapoport reports that Texas A&M OT Jake Matthews is visiting with the Falcons on Wednesday and will later meet with the Texans on Thursday and into Friday.

The only other reported visit we’ve heard about for Matthews is with the Bills.

Even so, Matthews is widely considered to be one of the top-three offensive tackles in this year’s draft, and some believe he is already a better player than Auburn LT Greg Robinson.

Greg Cosell of NFL Films mentioned on the Ross Tucker Podcast that Matthews is currently a “much more refined and better player” than Robinson at this point in their young careers.

Albert Breer mentions that Matthews could be part of a Texans strategy to trade out of the No. 1 overall pick, but adds that UCF QB Blake Bortles could also be on their radar if they were to move back in round one.

We have the Falcons taking Matthews at No. 6 overall in our most recent 2014 NFL Mock Draft.
