Texas A&M WR Mike Evans A Top-Five Pick?

According to Tony Pauline of DraftInsider.net, Texas A&M WR Mike Evans is the “player moving quickest” up first-round draft boards.

  • Pauline adds that Evans could go as early as No. 5 to the Raiders or possibly even higher than that.

Pauline previously reported that Evans is a “lock” to be a top-ten pick, so this isn’t the first time we’ve heard that Evans could go higher than some think.

However, a team who isn’t drafting in the top-ten shared their top-ten players with Peter King on Monday and didn’t have Evans in this group.

According to King’s source, his top-ten includes: Johnny Manziel, Blake Bortles, Greg Robinson, Jake Matthews, Taylor Lewan, Zack Martin, Aaron Donald, Jadeveon Clowney, Khalil Mack and Sammy Watkins.

There has even been talk that a team like the 49ers could trade up for Evans, which was an idea suggested by Chris Mortensen of ESPN last week.

Mortensen reported San Francisco could be “ready to do something big” in this year’s draft and that Evans could be their target.

The 49ers are a team people are starting to talk about as someone who could be very aggressive in this draft,” said Mortensen.

We have Evans going to the Buccaneers at No. 7 overall in our most recent 2014 NFL Mock Draft.
