The Addition Andre Branch Could Leave Aaron Kampmen On The Chopping Block

Jacksonville Jaguars director of player personnel Terry McDonough suggested that second-round pick Andre Branch could end up playing their right defensive end for them next season.

“We’re a 4-3 defense, we have a need at right end,” McDonough said, via the Florida Times-Union. “It’s no secret we have a need for someone who can rush the passer.”

While that may not be surprising, considering that it was an obvious need of theirs, it could be an indication that they’re willing to move on from the often injured Aaron Kampman. Jeremy Mincey can be penciled in at left defensive end, so if Branch is able to show them something during training camp, they’ll have to at least consider getting out from under Kampman’s $4.975 million base salary.
