The Jets Looking at Adalius Thomas

Adalius Thomas has been no stranger to the rumor-mill this offseason. The latest rumor has the Jets as the most interested party to have inquired on the free-agent linebacker. Peter King of SI.com discussed the Jets interest in his latest column.

“All I know is [GM] Mike Tannenbaum called my agent [Bus Cook] a couple of days ago and they’re interested in maybe doing something with me — but not until after the first game of the season,” Thomas said.

With the recent injury to outside-linebacker Calvin Pace and the fact that Thomas played under Rex Ryan in Baltimore, the Jets seem like they are the most obvious suitors but as Thomas mentioned the Jets may not want to bring in until the season starts. This move would be purely financially driven since they would only have to guarantee a portion of Thomas salary if they sign him after week 1.

No team has shown this much interest so far so it may actually be his best option on the table.
