Three Teams Still In The Race To Trade For Adrian Peterson?

Charles Robinson of Yahoo Sports told Arizona Sports 98.7 FM Wednesday that there are three teams left in the race for Vikings RB Adrian Peterson — the Cardinals, Buccaneers and Jaguars.

Robinson didn’t completely rule out the Falcons as a potential option either.
It’s worth mentioning that Jaguars HC Gus Bradley shot down the idea of them possibly trading for Peterson on Tuesday, per Mark Long.

Robinson added that he’s “100 percent confident” that the Vikings would listen if a team like the Cardinals called them and offered their first-round pick for Peterson.

However, it sounds like the Cowboys aren’t as serious of landing spot as many expected them to be.

“Whoever says otherwise is 1,000 percent wrong,” Robinson said of Dallas. “The Cowboys have not spoken to the Minnesota Vikings about Adrian Peterson. It has not happened. They haven’t offered a draft pick, they have not picked up the telephone to talk to the Minnesota Vikings about Adrian Peterson. It simply has not happened.”

Sources have told Chris Tomasson of the Pioneer Press that unless the Vikings trade Peterson within the next week, he’s likely remain with the team.

“If he’s not traded next week, they’re going to keep him,” the source said.

The Vikings have maintained that they plan on having Peterson back with them next season, even though he reportedly still has issues with some members of the team’s front office.

Jason Cole of the Bleacher Report previously mentioned that if the Vikings want to “repair” the situation with Peterson, they could guarantee most the remaining money in his contract and he would “happily” report to offseason workouts.

Peterson, 30, still has another three years remaining on his seven-year, $96 million contract that included $36 million guaranteed. Over the next three years, Peterson stands to make base salaries of $12.75 million (2015), $14.75 million (2016), and $16.75 million (2017).

As for his cap figures, the Vikings are looking at $15.4 million (2015), $15 million (2016), and $17 million (2017).

According to OverTheCap.com, trading Peterson would free up $13 million in available cap space and create $2.4 million dead money.

Peterson appeared in just one game for the Vikings and ran for 75 yards on 21 carries (3.6 YPC) while adding two receptions for 18 yards receiving and no touchdowns.
