Tim Tebow Could Request A Trade Following This Season

Gary Myers of the New York Daily News writes that an NFL source informed him that Jets quarterback Tim Tebow could be one-and-done with the team after this season as there is a chance he will request a trade if he continues to have a small role with the team, like we saw on Sunday.

“I think he will be a good soldier,” one NFL source said Wednesday. “At the end of the year, I think he will express those concerns to the Jets. He will want to move on. The one thing about Tebow is he is the quintessential team player. He would never do anything that is going to undermine the team. But he’s football-aholic. It’s in his blood.”

Considering Tebow’s competitive nature, it is hard to imagine him being comfortable as No. 2 quarterback. If Mark Sanchez‘s performance on Sunday is any indication of how he will play this season, Tebow’s wildcat role will likely diminish even more and so could his feelings about staying with the Jets long term. It is just hard to imagine that a team would be willing to acquire Tebow and offer him any role larger than what he currently has with the Jets.
