Former NFL QB Tim Tebow is planning to pursue a baseball career, according to his baseball agent Brodie Van Wagenen.
“Obviously we support Tim in his pursuit of a baseball career, as we have in all his ventures,” said Tebow’s football agent, Jimmy Sexton, via ESPN.com. “Tim’s athletic ability, his work ethic, his leadership and his competitiveness were evident in football and will show in baseball. Knowing Tim’s passion and desire, we won’t be surprised by anything he accomplishes.”
Tebow actually hit .494 as a junior during high school and an All-State selection.
Even so, this is fairly surprising news, considering that many have wondered why he hasn’t tried to make it in the CFL or even change positions to fullback or tight end.
All 30 Major League Baseball teams will be invited to attend Tebow’s workout at the end of the month.
Tebow recently mentioned during an interview with CBS Sports Radio that he’s “in the best shape I’ve ever been in” and feels like he can still be an effective quarterback in the NFL.
“I mean, for me, I’m in the best shape I’ve ever been in,” Tebow said. “I’m still young, I still feel really good. So is that something that I feel like I can be an effective quarterback in the NFL? Yeah, I really do feel like I could be. But I think at the same time, there are a lot of other things that I’m doing that I love and that I’m blessed to do.”
However, Tebow stressed the importance of having more to your life than just being a football player.
“Football is just one thing that I love to do,” Tebow said. “But it can’t become your everything because eventually you’re not going to be able to play, whether that’s toda
Tebow, 29, is a former first-round pick of the Broncos back in 2010. He spent just two years in Denver before he was later traded to the Jets in 2012. He had a brief stint with the Patriots before the Eagles surprisingly gave him an opportunity last summer.
During the preseason last year, Tebow threw for 286 yards while completing 58.3 percent of his passes to go along with two touchdowns and an interception. He also contributed 82 yards rushing and a rushing touchdown.
