Titans Sign QB John Skelton

Update:

ESPN’s Chris Mortensen reports that the Titans have in fact signed QB John Skelton

Skelton figures to supplant Rusty Smith as Ryan Fitzpatrick‘s backup at some point in the near future.

——–

Jim Wyatt of the Tennessean reports that free agent QB John Skelton is visiting with the Titans again on Monday.

Given that this is Skelton’s second visit in the past few weeks, Wyatt suspects the Titans could sign him to a contract.

Skelton has also visited with teams like the Buccaneers and Packers since being released by the 49ers and Bengals this year.

As things stand right now, the Titans have Ryan Fitzpatrick in place as their starter with Rusty Smith has his backup, so Tennessee may see Skelton as an upgrade to Smith.

We’ll have more as the news is available.
