It was somewhat surprising to see the Falcons on from him before the end of his rookie deal, especially considering that they could have brought him to camp and released him before the start of the season if he didn’t improve.
Tennessee could really use some depth at outside linebacker, so it will be interesting to see how he makes the transition.
Massaquoi, 26, is a former fifth-round pick of the Falcons back in 2012. He still has one year remaining on his four-year, $2,268,860 rookie contract which included a base salary of $660,000 for the 2015 season.
In 2014, he appeared in 15 games and recorded 22 tackles, two sacks, and a pass defense. Pro Football Focus has Massaquoi rated as the No. 23 defensive end in a 4-3 defense last year out of 59 qualifying players.
