Titans Considering Cutting RB Chris Johnson?

Yesterday a league source informed Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk that “several teams” are under the belief that the Tennessee Titans could end up releasing RB Chris Johnson following the 2011 season.

Johnson is set to receive $8 million for the 2012 which will become fully guaranteed on the fifth day of the next league year. In 2013 Johnson will make $9 million so the team will face a similar dilemma at that point as well.

It would be hard to imagine that Chris Johnson has gone from arguably the leagues best running back to being cut just a months after signing a huge contract. Johnson was able to get over the century mark for the first time this season so the Titans are likely hoping that he’ll continue to build on this improvement in the coming weeks which should make their decision a little easier at the end of the year.
