Titans Considering Ohio State OC Ryan Day For Offensive Coordinator Job

Adam Schefter reports that new Titans HC Mike Vrabel is considering Ohio State co-offensive coordinator Ryan Day to run Tennessee’s offense.

Many thought the Titans may target an offensive-minded head coach to work with QB Marcus Mariota, but GM Jon Robinson stressed that he was looking for a “leader of men” and ultimately settled on Vrabel, who he has experience with from their time together in New England.

The Titans will need to find an offensive coordinator capable of continuing to develop Mariota and build the offense around his skill set.

It’s worth mentioning that Day worked under Chip Kelly with the 49ers, which could make him a good fit with the Mariota.

Day, 38, began his coaching career with New Hamshire in 2002 as their tight ends coach. Since then, Day has worked for a number of schools and NFL teams including Boston College, Florida, Temple, Eagles and 49ers before Ohio State hired him as their co-offensive coordinator/QBs coach in 2017.

In total, Day has been an offensive coordinator three times, but only coached QBs in the NFL.

We’ll have more regarding the Titans’ search as the news is available.
