Titans Could Be An Option For Michael Vick?

Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk takes a look at free agent QB Michael Vick‘s options at this point in free agency.

Vick has said that he wants to sign with a team that will give him a shot at competing for starting job this year. However, there appears to be a limited number of teams who could offer him that kind opportunity.

Florio mentions that the Jets and Bills would make sense, but Buffalo has said that they don’t plan on adding a veteran quarterback to push 2013 first-round pick E.J. Manuel.

Interestingly enough, Florio mentions that the Tennessee Titans could be a team to watch given that league sources have informed him that QB Jake Locker could still be on crutches after suffering a season-ending  Lisfrance injury last year.

Florio mentions that the Titans don’t have the best backup options, despite signing Charlie Whitehurst last week. Florio also points out HC Ken Whisenhunt has done better with veteran quarterbacks in the past.

It seems like an interesting idea, but it would be surprising to see the Titans bring in another quarterback after signing Whitehurst in the first week of free agency. Vick is clearly a better quarterback than Whitehurst, but this idea is also contingent upon the health of Locker.

It could take Vick awhile to find his next team, and there is no guarantee he’ll have an opportunity to compete for a starting job. The Jets and Raiders seem to make the most sense right now, but we’ll see.

We have him listed as the No. 6 best available player in our Top 50 Free Agents list.
