Report: Titans Officially Release QB Ryan Fitzpatrick

According to Jim Wyatt of the Tennessean, the Titans are expected to release veteran QB Ryan Fitzpatrick Friday before his $500,000 roster bonus due.

According to Jim Wyatt of the Tennessean, the addition of QB Charlie Whitehurst will likely lead to the Titans releasing QB Ryan Fitzpatrick.

Fitzpatrick, 31, has a $500,000 roster bonus due in the coming days to go along with a cap figure of $4.125 million. He’s in the final year of his contract and will make $2.75 million for the 2014 season.

  • Tennessee stands to gain $3.25 million in cap space by releasing Fitzpatrick, according to Overthecap.com.

Last year, Fitzpatrick appeared in 11 games and completed 62 percent of his pass for 2,454 yards 14 touchdowns and 12 interceptions.
