Titans Decline To Pick Up G Chance Warmack’s Fifth-Year Option

The Tennessee Titans have declined to pick up G Chance Warmack‘s fifth-year option on Monday, according to Jim Wyatt.

The fifth-year option would have run the Titans $11.9 million in 2017, but was guaranteed only for injury and wouldn’t have prevented them from working on a long-term extension over the next year.

It’s possible that the Titans could instead focus on trying to get a long-term contract in place with Warmack that would come with a much more reasonable salary.

Warmack, 24, was taken with the No. 10 overall pick by the Titans back in 2013. He’s currently in the final year of his four-year, $12.166 million rookie contract and stands to make a base salary of $675,000 in 2016.

Last year, Warmack appeared in 14 games for the Titans and was rated by Pro Football Focus as the No. 40 guard out of 81 qualifying players.
