Titans Expected To Keep Matt Hasselbeck As The Starting QB?

Jim Wyatt of the Tennessean writes that the Titans will be nearly $30 million under the salary cap once the offseason begins. While that seems like a pretty good situation, they’ll have to decide whether or not bring 17 soon-to-be free agents.

Wyatt also takes a look at some of team’s highest paid players and among them, QB Matt Hasselbeck. Tennessee will owe him a $5.5 million next season that count as $7.5 million against the salary cap

We posted an article about a month ago that mentioned that the Titans plan to give rookie QB Jake Locker a shot at winning the team’s starting job but Wyatt doesn’t foresee him making a strong enough impression to supplant Hasselbeck as the Titans starter.

It’s a little early to whether or not that’s a possibility but it will at least be an interesting storyline heading into training camp.
