The Titans also named Louie Cioffi the team’s new defensive backs coach.
Cioffi actually worked with Ken Whisenhunt and Horton while in Arizona before he departed for a position with the Browns.
Mary Kay Cabot was first to report that the Tennessee Titans have hired Ray Horton as their new defensive coordinator.
Horton has been seen as the favorite the the Titans job since it became clear that Steelers LB coach Keith Butler was not interested in taking the job.
Horton is still under contract with the Browns and has a four-year contract with them, which means the Titans could end up getting a bargain by signing him. The two sides are expected to finalize a deal by Tuesday, as there are still a few things that they will need to agree upon with regards to his contract.
New Titans HC Ken Whisenhunt spent time with Horton while in Arizona, so it makes plenty of sense that he would target Horton to run his defense.
